At the invitation of the Minister-President of Saxony, a meeting of the major European regions was held in Brussels on 6 March 2023 to discuss microelectronics and the \u201cEU Chips Act\u201d programme.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The aim of this meeting was to organise discussions and cooperation programmes between the European regions involved in the electronics industry and the “EU Chips Act”.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thanks to its position within the Silicon Europe Alliance* network and its relationship with the German Silicon Saxony cluster, SCS was able to organise the representation of the SUD Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur region<\/strong> at the highest level and in the presence of Fran\u00e7oise Bruneteaux, President of the Commission for the Digital Transition of Companies and Territories, Territorial Planning and Digital Economy.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Fran\u00e7oise<\/p>\n

The SUD Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d\u2019Azur region is a key area in the European electronics ecosystem. The region is home to 108 players, 50 of which specialise in microelectronics<\/strong>. The microelectronics sector in the SUD Provence-Alpes-C\u00f4te d’Azur region represents almost 30% of the national potential. With world leaders such as ST Microelectronics, Microchip, NXP Semiconductors, ARM, Qualcomm and many others, the region is the second largest microelectronics region in France<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Fran\u00e7oise Bruneteaux presented and highlighted the region\u2019s strengths and its strategy to the key players in European policy in this field, in particular Commissioner Thierry Breton.<\/p>\n

She also signed, on behalf of the President of the Region, Renaud Muselier, and together with 12 other European Regions from 9 European countries, a \u201cjoint declaration\u201d for the creation of an Alliance of European Regions to support development and innovation in the semiconductor sector<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With the support of SCS, she intends to organise meetings with the main industrial players of the region in order to present her actions and to gather their opinions and recommendations on how to accelerate the development of the regional industry.<\/p>\n

SCS and its members would like to thank Fran\u00e7oise Bruneteaux for her commitment to supporting the semiconductor sector.<\/p>\n
